We are starting to get a few inquiries regarding buying hearing devices over the Internet. As they do appear to be less in cost, we would like to explain what you are getting for your money. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask our staff.
How does Landmark Hearing's services compare to some internet hearing device service packages?
Let's take for example a Widex Diva CIC device, which is listed at $2599 on 'Hearing Planet' over the Internet. $2099 is for the device itself, and $500 of the total goes directly to the dispenser for the following services for ONE YEAR ONLY:
Initial hearing device evaluation
Impression fee
Initial delivery/fitting
45day supply of batteries
ONE YEAR service/cleaning/retuning/counseling
1-2 year factory warranty
Loss/Damage Deductible $400!
Landmark Hearing Services Basic One Year Package for the same Widex Diva CIC device at $2599 includes:
All of the above PLUS
2-3 months supply of batteries AND
LOW Loss/Damage Deductible $150-250!
LOCAL/CONVENIENT service location!
It has always been the hearing industry's belief that including unlimited service (more than one year) to a device and it's user produces better likelihood for long term satisfaction. NOTE: If you have Medicare, they do NOT allow billing a hearing test unless it is medically necessary for the referring physician to determine medical treatment. That means that without a service plan many initial hearing tests and almost ALL recheck hearing tests will be the responsibility of the patient ($75-120). If you have other insurance/coverage that may cover routine hearing evaluations, you may prefer to purchase your personal listening device at our office with limited service and then have your hearing checked by your clinic for your low co-pay. You would only then be having us clean/check/adjust/reprogram your device more on an "as needed" basis. If you have LIMITED NEEDS, then this MAY be more cost effective for you. However, when you do need assistance more than you expected, you may just decide to "live with the problem" and not come in, or it may end up being more costly in the long run. Again, we strongly recommend having an unlimited service plan with every aid (usually about $250 each). Long term benefit from your device is worth it!
